Machete Lite is a simple video editing tool to cut or join (AVI, WMF) video files. You can delete unnecessary fragments from a video file and also copy, move or mix multiple pieces, all without the need to re-encode the file. The program offers an easy to use interface with an integrated preview and timeline to select and mark the scenes to be edited.
Machete Lite also includes an option to remove audio tracks and comes with a simple tag editor to edit AVI and WMF metadata.
The Lite version is limited to AVI and WMF formats.

Machete Lite does well for simple edits and audio extractions and cuts. But and that's a big BUT. You can't adjust audio volume. How many times I just wanted to increase or decrease volume on a poorly mixed video- too often. Nobody adds this simple function to their down and dirty freeware. |

It's fairly self explanatory and as already mentioned, is fairly basic in options but does a decent job. Personally I feel there are many better options but for basic cutting and joining, this is light and will do a good job, definitely something to keep around. |

It is easy to use and has a useful tutorial. It has few features but for free it is OK. |
