The unrest started by German farmers comes in response to the government's surprise decision to end tax breaks for agriculture. The president of the German Farmers Association (BvD) warns that this decision represents a "declaration of war" and threatens mass protests at a time when approval of the government is at a record low, and more than two-thirds of Germans believe that the current government should resign.
