Dutch farmers are again protesting today against government plans to nationalize and close 3,000 farms in order to meet the European Union's environmental mandate to reduce emissions. It is the first time the Dutch government has committed to the controversial compulsory buy-back or expropriation scheme, after it was first mentioned in a government research report outlining a 30% reduction in livestock by 2030.
